MaLu on Safari |
MaLu has been very excited this
morning. He was allowed to accompany his elephant dad on his first
Safari. However, now – in the evening – his excitement is gone. Coming
back MaLu hides behind his elephant dad. His elephant mom should not see
that today not only his trunk but also his head is red. But his
elephant mom always sees everything and has already discovered MaLu's
red head.
MaLu tells her that he really liked the welcome of the rolling tin cans. During an elephant safari the elephants watch the human beings who come in tin cans. His elephant dad simply stood on the path, wiggled his ears and roared loudly. What do you think did the tin cans then? Exactly, they slowly went another path and we had the path to ourselves.
But we quickly found the tin cans again, for my elephant dad knows the ropes. You know, elephant mom, the human beings are weird. They were all sitting in their tin cans. I was curious what they were doing and ran past them. All of a sudden they all had a long tin trunk and were looking at me with it. My elephant dad later told me that those were cameras and that you make pictures with them.
But I did not know that. I thought they wanted to greet me with their trunks and firmly tore at it. The tin trunk fell onto the floor and was broken. The human beings did not like that at all. But I only wanted to greet them. MaLu's elephant mom told him that there are two sides to every question for the human beings could have been more careful. And why do they make pictures when you can see nature? When you always look through the tin trunk you do not see the beauty here. MaLu does not understand this.
MaLu wanted to give them a treat then and sprayed mud onto the human beings, so that they would be protected from the sun. MaLu only did what his elephant grandma always did for him. Hence they quickly drove on. They did not even say good bye. Human beings are quite different from us elephants, MaLu has yet to get used to it. And MaLu does not yet know whether some day a human being will be among his best friends.
